About the bench
Who runs Throttle Closet, how the gear gets tested, and how the site pays for itself.
What this is
Throttle Closet is a one-bench gear desk. We buy motorcycle kit at retail, ride in it, and publish what held up — currently 200 pieces across helmets, jackets, gloves, boots, pants and the layers that go under all of it.
How a review gets made
Every product goes through the same four steps: buy it, wear it, read the published specification end to end, and score it on five axes. Each score is derived from that product's own evidence, so a glove and a jacket can share one ranking without the comparison becoming nonsense.
- Protection — certification, armour coverage, shell and textile spec.
- Weather — membranes, taped seams, liners, insulation.
- Airflow — vents, mesh, breathability, minus anything that runs hot.
- Comfort — adjustment, liners, all-day fit, minus break-in and bulk.
- Value — durability and serviceability against what it costs to own.
How we pay for it
Links to retailers are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is the entire business model — no paid placement, no sponsored ranking, and no brand sees a review before it publishes. The cons list runs as long as the evidence makes it.
